"Invasion of privacy occurs when someone violates your reasonable expectation of privacy. This can include illegally intercepting calls, snooping through private records, taking photos or videos of someone in a private place without their knowledge or consent, incessant unwanted phone calls, and publicly disclosing private information that has caused damage or injury.

The law of privacy consists of four distinct kinds of invasion: unreasonable intrusion upon the seclusion of another, appropriation of the other’s name or likeness, unreasonable publicity given to the other’s private life, and publicity which unreasonably places the other in a false light before the public (and/or perjury).

The four most common types of causes of action related to invasion of privacy are: appropriation of name or likeness, intrusion upon seclusion, false light, and public disclosure of private facts. The U.S. Supreme Court has issued a decision stating that there is a limited constitutional right to privacy..." GO TO: https://hutchersonlaw.com/is-invasion-of-privacy-a-crime/

The law of privacy consists of four distinct kinds of invasion. The right of privacy is invaded when there is: 1) unreasonable intrusion upon the seclusion of another, 2) appropriation of the other’s name or likeness, 3) unreasonable publicity given to the other’s private life, and 4) publicity which unreasonably places the other in a false light before the public.

NOTE: False light is one of several torts under the category of invasion of privacy where a defendant is accused of spreading falsehoods about a plaintiff that would be considered objectionable by the average person. (Question: What is the average person? The SLN Church Lady? And what exactly is 'offensive'?)

"Invasion of privacy is a legal concept dealing with intrusion into an individual’s private life. It is a tort that allows the person whose privacy was invaded to file a lawsuit against the person intruding upon his or her privacy. Laws governing the right to privacy do not treat all people the same, however, as public figures, such as politicians, are commonly not afforded the same rights of privacy as laypeople. To explore this concept, consider the following invasion of privacy definition..." Go to: https://legaldictionary.net/invasion-of-privacy/
